As temperatures finally start getting — and staying — warm, it’s time to reach back in your closet and bring forward your favorite spring dresses, shorts, and sandals, plus a few lightweight jackets and sweaters in colors other than black and gray. And thank goodness, because by the end of winter, we’re all dying to retire our black puffers and winter boots in favor of light, airy, and easier ’fits.
As you dust off your spring wardrobe, take a minute to assess what you have from last year. Did you wear everything, or are you holding onto items that don’t fit well or don’t make you feel confident? If it’s the latter, consider replacing those garments with a few fresh items that will make a big impact. You don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe to stay current, but take a look at the top spring 2024 trends below to get inspiration for a few pieces that will make you feel great heading into the season.
White Dresses
Grab that trusty white dress from the back of your closet — we’re going to update it for spring 2024. The runways were full of fresh white frocks: crisp cotton poplin ones, silk drop-waist styles, and more. Add a colorful sneaker, an icy blue accessory (more on that It-color later), or a black leather belt for an updated take on an old favorite.

Ice Blue
If red was the color of fall and winter, it’s all about icy blue for spring and summer. (In fact, the two colors look great together.) Dip your toe into the trend with an ice-blue purse or pair of ballet flats, or go all in with a chic blue suit that’ll look just as good for a work meeting as for dinner with friends.

Openwork Knitting
It’s hard to name the trend exactly, but designers sent all kinds of crochet and open knits down the runways for spring. In turn, everyone from New York City influencers to fashionable moms on Instagram began sporting the look when temperatures started to climb. Think crochet dresses, beaded vests, tons of embellishments, and any kind of open weave. Wear one with tights — if you dare — or save the daring look for a swimsuit cover-up.

Sheer Lace
Winter’s sheer trend isn’t going anywhere. For spring, we’re seeing tulle, mesh, chiffon, and lace that brings a lightness to an otherwise simple style. Pair a white lace maxi skirt — likely too sheer on its own — with an oversized sweater, or try an organza top with your favorite black skirt to slip easily into the trend without feeling too exposed.

Trench Coats
The classic trench never goes out of style, but this spring is the perfect time to play with new shapes and colors. If you always go for classic khaki, try a pale pink instead. We’re also seeing oversized belts, large collars, and exaggerated shoulders to make this classic piece feel fresh and new again.

Sporty Polos
Chances are, you already wore the polo shirt trend in the early 2000s, so if you want to leave its resurgence to the teens, we wouldn’t blame you. But there is a way to bring the sporty style into adulthood that feels elevated and — dare we say — even a little fun. This spring’s polo shirts are less cropped, less body-con, and don’t have a popped collar. Phew.

Roses
Florals for spring? We know. But this spring, the blooms feel fresher than ever with bold prints and even roses appliquéd in 3D. You can go as dramatic or as laid-back as you want with this trend; there are so many big and small ways to dip your toe in. We say jump all in and don’t look back.
